ThirdGuy – The Impartial Third Party for Every Deal

Project Name

ThirdGuy

Problem Statement

The internet fundamentally lacks trustless verification systems for digital asset exchanges, forcing users to rely on centralized intermediaries or risky peer-to-peer transactions. Whether trading gift cards, NFTs, digital files, or making complex wagers, parties face fraud risks, verification delays, and expensive middleman fees without any reliable “third person” to ensure fair transactions.

Solution Overview

ThirdGuy introduces “the third person in the internet that you always needed” - an AI-powered, trustless escrow agent that seamlessly bridges trust gaps in digital commerce. By combining off-chain conversational AI with on-chain zk-TEE verification on Metis Hyperion, ThirdGuy provides instant, secure, and verifiable transactions for any digital asset while maintaining complete transparency and eliminating intermediary risks.

Project Description

The Solution: Introducing Hyperion-Powered AI Escrow

ThirdGuy leverages Metis Hyperion, the first Layer 2 Ethereum-compatible solution designed explicitly for on-chain AI execution and Large Language Models (LLMs). Hyperion combines blockchain’s decentralized trust with AI’s analytical powers through the LazAI Alith framework, delivering unprecedented performance with over 1 gigagas per second processing capability and real-time AI inference directly on-chain.

Hybrid Architecture: Best of Both Worlds

Off-Chain Intelligence Layer:

  • Conversational AI onboarding using LangGraph for natural user interactions
  • Pre-verification discussions and asset assessment through Alith’s multi-model support
  • Real-time negotiation facilitation and dispute prevention
  • User-friendly chat interface for seamless transaction setup

On-Chain Security Layer:

  • zk-TEE (Zero-Knowledge Trusted Execution Environment) for sensitive data processing
  • Hyperion’s MetisVM for AI-optimized smart contract execution
  • Cryptographic proofs posted on-chain for complete transparency
  • Automated escrow release based on verification results

Revolutionary Use Cases

Digital Asset Verification & Trading

  • Gift Cards & Game Codes: Real-time balance verification across 50+ platforms
  • Redeemable NFTs: Verify utility tokens, membership passes, and access rights
  • Digital Tickets: Concert, sports, and event tickets with authenticity guarantees
  • Domain Names: Ownership verification and transfer facilitation
  • Software Licenses: Code authenticity and usage rights validation

  • High-Performance Inference: Optimized for real-time decision making
  • Web3-Native: Built specifically for blockchain integration with privacy protection
  • Decentralized Governance: Community-driven verification standards through DATs (Data Anchoring Tokens)

zk-TEE Security Model:

  • Sensitive data (gift card codes, private keys) processed in secure enclaves
  • Zero-knowledge proofs ensure verification without data exposure
  • Immutable audit trails for dispute resolution
  • Hardware-level security guarantees

Workflow Example: Complex Wagering

  1. Setup: Two students bet on exam scores via conversational AI interface
  2. Terms: AI facilitates negotiation of verification methods and payout structure
  3. Verification Source: HTTP endpoint to university grading system (pre-approved by both parties)
  4. Escrow: Funds locked in Hyperion smart contract
  5. Monitoring: AI agent continuously monitors agreed verification sources
  6. Resolution: zk-TEE processes results, posts proofs on-chain, releases funds automatically

@shreyan001 This is truly next-gen infrastructure.
ThirdGuy tackles a core Web3 problem trust in peer-to-peer digital exchanges by merging off-chain AI intelligence with on-chain security and verifiability. The hybrid approach is spot-on: conversational AI creates accessibility and smooth UX, while zk-TEE and Hyperion ensure data integrity and automation at scale.

The range of use cases from redeemable NFTs and digital licenses to complex wagers is not only ambitious but genuinely needed in today’s fragmented digital markets. Plus, enabling assets like gift cards or digital tickets to be collateralized opens up an entirely new category of DeFi.

Excited to see how this evolves. Will there be support for user-created transaction templates or custom AI negotiation personalities down the line?

Hello @shreyan001 , how are you?

I have some questions in my mind :-

  1. What happens if the off-chain AI and on-chain zk-TEE come to conflicting conclusions during verification, how is the final decision made?
  2. How does ThirdGuy plan to avoid centralization of verification modules by a few power users or devs? Is there a review/approval process?

Hi @priyankg3,

Here’s a clearer breakdown before we slide into a simple domain-sale example:

1. Roles in a ThirdGuy escrow

  • Off-chain AI = friendly facilitator

    • Guides both parties through price, deadlines, fees, etc.
    • Produces a gas-less “micro-contract” that both sides sign.
    • Has zero authority to move assets—think of it as customer support with a memory.
  • zk-TEE smart-contract = final referee

    • Re-checks the asset under secure hardware, posts a cryptographic proof on-chain, and either settles or refunds in the same transaction.
    • If the proof fails, funds snap back automatically; whatever the AI thought is irrelevant at this stage.

Because only the zk-TEE can release funds, any mismatch between “what the AI said” and on-chain reality simply causes the deal to abort, never to mis-settle.

2. Keeping things open and neutral

All verification logic lives in a public repo and is governed by a token-staked DAO.

  • Open source means anyone can audit or fork the code for new use-cases.
  • Publishing or upgrading modules requires staking tokens; malicious updates risk their stake being slashed, providing an economic check.
  • DAO voting on-chain ensures no single party—ourselves included—can quietly change the rules.

That’s the high-level answer without diving deep into adapter plumbing.

3. Quick real-world picture (domain sale)

  1. AI chat gathers the terms for selling coolcats.xyz for 2 ETH and gets both parties to sign.
  2. Buyer deposits 2 ETH; seller uploads the encrypted transfer code.
  3. zk-TEE contacts the registrar, proves the domain is transferable, and—if true—releases 2 ETH while initiating the transfer.
  4. If the registrar reports a lock, the proof fails and the entire deal auto-reverts.

Hope this helps! Happy to elaborate further if needed.
