As the Metis ecosystem grows, so does the power of its community. We’re sharing ideas, asking questions, and collaborating more than ever — but right now, there’s no real way to recognize or reward that effort on the forum.
So here’s a thought:
What if we built a simple Karma or Reputation System right here on the Metis Forum?
Imagine this:
You earn karma when you help others You build reputation for posting high-signal insights You get recognized for consistently contributing to governance or project ideas You unlock access to exclusive discussions or early ecosystem perks
Reputation could become a passport for deeper involvement — whether that’s early testing invites, DAO contributions, or co-building opportunities. Think of it as a lightweight, transparent signal of trust and value created by the community, for the community.
We already see ideas like this in action across Web3 (Optimism’s badge system, Praise by Commons Stack, etc.), so why not here?
Actually there is! It’s not perfect or exactly structured how you’ve shared, but this forum is built on Discourse which has been refined over the course of decades, serving thousands of communities.
Built-in to Discourse is the Badges and Cheers system, which gives points for contributing to posts, solving issues with the “solved” plug-in, and many more. @Sheyda did a great write-up about it here:
Additionally, check out the “Trust Level” system, which rewards users for participating in meaningful ways, by “graduating” to increased trust levels. You start at level 0, and can get all the way up to level 4.
Love this idea! A karma or rep system would really boost meaningful engagement and reward real contributors. Totally down for it let’s make it happen!
