Metis doxing certification

Many project teams within crypto prefer to remain anonymous, however this leave the community vulnerable to criminal activity as has been demonstrated by multiple fraudulent acts, most recently the “bad actor” on Tethys.

A metis certification scheme that allows project teams to provide proof of ID to the metis team, this would reduce the risk for investors while allowing project teams to maintain some level of anonymity as metis would only release IDs if required by a legal investigation.

This is a good idea with one important caveat - not Metis certification, but Community certification.

The community needs to suggest the way projects doxx themselves, where this doxxing information will be stored, and upon which conditions and by whom retrieved.

This is the kind of thing that its difficult for the community to do as it requires centralised organisation to set up. I would have thought the ideal would be for it to be a Metis certification. If the metis team are unwilling to do this then a legal firm would need to be contracted to conduct the checks and keep records.

The legal fees would need to be funded, probably by a small payment when teams apply for the certification.

This is ideologically opposite to our decentralization narrative.

On the other hand - there is no perfect security. Any security can be breached in one way or another (and will be based on the value of protected information). If hackers are bad, you would know about the breach; if they are good, you wouldn’t.
