We’ve all seen the pattern: the airdrop hits, numbers spike, everyone’s hype, and then most people disappear.
So here’s the real question:
What actually drives retention in Web3?
Is it a clear mission?
Strong community culture?
Better onboarding or contributor pathways?
Something else entirely?
Would love to hear what’s worked (or flopped) in your experience.
Let’s treat retention as core infra, not just a post-metrics scramble.

Strong community culture—built on shared values, mission alignment, and inclusivity—encourages emotional investment.

It is very difficult to retain users in this market, most people only stay when they feel profitable in the long run. Airdrop or Airdrip is just a lever to attract people, in my opinion, what needs to be done is to build a seamless ecosystem where users can maximize their profits while staying in that ecosystem. Projects that keep launching without a common connection have fragmented users.
