How to Embed Video, X Posts, and Other Content in a Forum Post
1. Embedding Videos, Tweets, and Links
To easily embed videos, X posts, Telegram links, and other media in your forum posts, follow these simple steps:
- Step 1: Copy the URL of the content (e.g., YouTube video, X post, Telegram link, etc.).
- Step 2: Paste the link directly into your forum post.
- Step 3: Make sure the link is on its own line, and Discourse will automatically convert it into an embedded preview (called a OneBox).
Example:
Simply paste the link, like this:

It will automatically turn into a previewed tweet when you publish the post.
2. Using Embed Code for Custom Embeds
For custom embeds (like from Reddit or other sources that don’t automatically generate previews), you’ll need to use the embed code.
- Step 1: Go to the content source (e.g., Reddit) and find the embed code option.
- Step 2: Copy the embed code provided.
- Step 3: Paste the embed code directly into your forum post where you want the content to appear.
Example Use Cases:
- Embedding a YouTube Video: Just paste the YouTube link and it will show up as an embedded video.
- Embedding an X Post: Paste the link of an X tweet to have it display directly in your forum post.
