DeFi, DAOs, and NFTs. What I'm learning in Web3

Hi everyone, I’m Harley from Thailand

I’m quite new to the world of blockchain and Web3, I got introduced to it not too long ago by a few friends. At first, I was just exploring out of curiosity, but the more I learned, the more fascinated I became. The Web3 space feels vibrant, open, and full of new things to discover, it really feels like stepping into a whole new world. I’m genuinely excited to be here and to begin this journey alongside all of you.

I currently work in the field of derivatives trading, mainly in markets like Forex and bonds. Thanks to my background in traditional finance, it’s been easier for me to grasp concepts in DeFi and understand Web3 protocols, like liquidity pools and decentralized trading systems. While a lot of this space is new to me, I also see interesting parallels between Web2 and Web3 when I look closely.

The area I’m most passionate about in Web3 is DeFi,I truly believe it’s already transforming, and will continue to transform, the financial system as we know it. I’m also intrigued by DAOs and the concept of decentralized governance, which is quite different from anything I’ve seen before. And NFTs, they’re no longer just collectibles, but now have real potential in utility, ownership, and verification.

I’ve had the chance to try out Polygon PoS, and overall the experience has been quite good. That said, I think newcomers may face a few initial challenges, like setting up a wallet, bridging assets, or simply understanding how everything works. I believe simplifying the onboarding process and making wallets and bridges more intuitive could really help. One other idea I’ve been thinking about is an on-chain reputation system, which could be valuable for building trust within the community.

Right now, I’m not working on a specific Web3 project yet, but I’m actively exploring ideas, especially tools or DeFi products built on Polygon. If you’re working in this space or interested in similar things, I’d love to connect, chat, and maybe even collaborate on something exciting.
