This is a safe space for you to admit that when you scroll through CT (Crypto Twitter) you have absolutely no clue what people on the TL (timeline) are yapping (talking) about.
Let’s power through some terms:
Lore = origin story and details around a project or person
^ Having deep lore is commendable and sought after even for memecoin projects
Aura = a project or persons unexplainable clout or magnetism
Did you see the Metis CEO Tom Ngo at the conference? He had so much Aura
TL = Timeline
^ Short for your Twitter/X feed.
“The TL is cooked today” = the posts you’re seeing are wild, chaotic, or hilarious.
Yapping = talking (usually too much)
^ Describes someone ranting, flexing, or hyping.
“He’s just yapping for engagement” / “That team’s been yapping for months with no product.”
FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt
^often used as a verb, e.g “stop fudding my bags”
LP = Liquidity Provider
^ Someone who puts tokens into a liquidity pool (like on Uniswap) so others can trade. In return they earn fees. Many on the TL will use it as short for ‘Liquidity’ with comments like :
“There’s not enough LP”, “LP is leaving”, “Low LP on that pair”
Ape in = jumping into a trade without thinking
^ If you wanna be cool tell your friends “i’m just gonna ape this coin”
FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out
^Also used in the real world, but you can see how it comes up a lot when discussing feelings about new coins…
Fade = to not buy
^If you fade a project you decide it’s not worth buying.
WAGMI / NGMI = We’re All Gonna Make It / Not Gonna Make It
^used to hype up or roast.
“Such a bullish announcement from Metis. WAGMI” / “If you’re fading Metis you’re NGMI.“
Rugpull = a coins Developer/ Team disappears with your money
^ Just imagine a literal rug being pulled from underneath you. ouch.
You can also get rugged in the ‘real world’ by your Wi-Fi, your flaky friend, or your alarm clock that “didn’t go off”
