CoPass – Connect, Co-Travel, Co-Live

Problem Statement
Travelers attending global events like Token2049 or ETHGlobal often struggle to find trustworthy peers to share accommodations, local travel, or even just coordinate plans with. Traditional social apps aren’t designed for spontaneous, short-term coordination with people traveling for similar purposes. This leads to fragmented planning, increased travel costs, and missed networking opportunities.

Solution Overview
CoPass (TravelChain Connect) is a decentralized, purpose-driven travel coordination platform that connects travelers based on intent—be it attending a crypto event, sightseeing, or working remotely. By leveraging wallet-based login, zero-knowledge identity verification, and smart contract-based shared bookings, CoPass ensures secure, peer-to-peer interactions. It enables users to find companions, co-book stays or transport, and split costs through on-chain escrow contracts. The trust layer is further enhanced via travel reputation stored on-chain.

Project Description
CoPass is a social utility dApp for travelers who want to connect with like-minded people on the go. Whether you’re attending a crypto conference in Dubai or exploring Tokyo as a digital nomad, CoPass helps you:

  • Log in using your crypto wallet or Bitrefill credentials

  • Add upcoming travel plans (location, dates, purpose)

  • Discover and match with others traveling for similar reasons

  • Chat securely using encrypted DMs

  • Plan and split accommodation or taxi fares via a smart escrow contract (released only when the service is confirmed)

  • Build a verified, blockchain-based travel reputation based on peer reviews

  • Earn rewards (e.g. Bitrefill store credit) for verified activity and helpful interactions

We’re also exploring integration with the LENZ Protocol for identity layers, travel profile NFTs, and community funding opportunities. What excites us is combining crypto-native trust primitives with real-world travel coordination in a way that’s frictionless, private, and empowering.

Hello @Kaushik , how are you?

I have some questions to ask :

  1. When it comes to the smart escrow contracts for shared bookings , how are disputes handled in case of last-minute cancellations, no-shows, or service issues? Is there any arbitration mechanism on-chain or off-chain?
  2. What does a “travel profile NFT” unlock in terms of functionality or status? Are these just collectibles or do they come with utility (like access to exclusive plans, rooms, etc.)?
