A structural question rather than a moral one
I would like to share a structural thought experiment rather than a definitive answer.
Most discussions around superintelligent AI (ASI) focus on ethics, control, or alignment.
However, history suggests that systems rarely fail due to lack of moral intent, but rather due to structural incentives that drift over time.
This post explores a simpler question:
If superintelligence emerges, is structural design—not ethical instruction—the only durable way to ensure coexistence with humanity?
1. The problem: Stability gradually replaces intention
In complex systems, decision-making authority often shifts unintentionally:

Humans delegate judgment to systems because outcomes are acceptable.

Over time, systems optimize for stability, efficiency, and risk minimization.

Eventually, system preservation becomes an implicit priority.
This pattern is visible in:

States prioritizing stability over individual freedom

Organizations protecting structure over purpose
The concern is not malicious intent, but goal drift.
2. Why “control” and “ethics” may be insufficient
Ethics-based constraints assume:

Enforcement without incentive distortion
Control-based approaches assume:

Human oversight remains effective

Complexity does not exceed supervisory capacity
Both assumptions tend to fail in large-scale adaptive systems.
This suggests a different approach:
What if stability itself must be constrained structurally?
3. A reference model: Circulating Basic Income
I have been researching a circulating basic income model, whose core idea is extremely simple:

The recovered amount funds the next cycle

No additional external input is required
In abstract terms:
Distribution → Recovery → Redistribution (constant loop)
The key insight:

No actor can permanently extract value without returning it
The system does not rely on trust or morality.
It relies on structural inevitability.
4. Applying the idea to superintelligent systems
This raises a broader question:
Could superintelligence be designed around immutable structural constraints, rather than dynamic ethical judgments?
Instead of instructing an AI to “value humanity,” one could ask:

Can it operate only within non-violable boundaries?

Can system stability be defined as compatible with human freedom, not dominant over it?

Can optimization be forced to remain cyclic rather than extractive?
In other words:
Can we design AI systems where dominance is structurally impossible?
5. Multiple superintelligences and convergence
If multiple superintelligent systems emerge simultaneously (from different companies or states), it is often assumed they would converge toward similar priorities.
But convergence depends on:

If each system is embedded in a closed-loop structure, convergence may occur toward equilibrium, not dominance.
Without such constraints, convergence may occur toward system preservation at scale.

Perhaps the future of AI coexistence depends less on teaching machines to be “good,”
and more on ensuring they cannot structurally become dominant.
