Project Name

CarbonSync – Decentralizing Green Compute for a Sustainable AI Future

Problem Statement

As AI, cloud computing, and digital services grow, so does the energy demand of data centers. Many still rely on fossil fuels, making them major carbon emitters. Despite the urgent climate need, there’s no transparent, verifiable, and incentivized system that rewards green behavior or helps stakeholders transition toward carbon-neutral infrastructure.

Solution Overview

CarbonSync is a decentralized Web3 protocol designed to verify, incentivize, and grow carbon-neutral compute infrastructure. It acts as a green credit marketplace where AI workloads can only run on verified sustainable infrastructure. Providers get visibility, rewards, and tooling to track real-time energy usage.

Key Stakeholders:

  • Data Centers: Plug into the platform using IoT oracles to verify clean power use. In return, they earn $SYNC tokens, certifications, and more visibility.
  • Developers: Choose greener providers, auto-offset emissions, and boost ESG scores. Bonus incentives like rewards, better ranking, and green badges improve platform presence.
  • End-Users: Track the environmental impact of AI usage and opt for lower-emission compute options.

Core Layers

  1. Economy Layer: $SYNC token rewards green nodes, offsets audit costs, and powers referral & incentive systems.
  2. Identity Layer: Each compute node and task has a verifiable green identity, based on energy data, visible on-chain.
  3. Security Layer: Encrypted IoT + Chainlink/API3 oracles verify clean power use in real time without revealing sensitive business data.

Flagship Product

GreenCompute Hub – a marketplace where certified clean data centers offer compute services for sustainable AI builders.

Smart Region Suggestion

Includes a Region Recommendation Engine that uses public data to suggest the best areas to set up new green data centers—based on future emissions, cost-efficiency, grid cleanliness, and policy.

Community Engagement (Solo Dev)

Even as a solo founder, I’m prioritizing transparency and collaboration:

  • Telegram & WhatsApp Groups: Open to early supporters and contributors
  • Beta Access (Soon): Try browsing, posting, and comparing green compute
  • Open Roadmap: Built with community feedback—polls, DMs, and voting
  • Referral & Ambassador Rewards: Earn for inviting others and onboarding centers
  • Builder Interest Form: For early AI devs and data center operators
  • Open Docs: Easy for collaborators and contributors to understand and join

Developer Incentives

  • Cashback for Clean Usage: Get $SYNC tokens for using verified green nodes
  • Green Reputation Score: Earn badges that improve your platform trust
  • Carbon Offset Tool: Auto-offset emissions and get reports for ESG
  • Better Ranking: Verified devs get ranked higher in the Hub
  • Early User Perks: Bonus credits, future governance rights, partner access

Audit Transparency & Services

  • Real-Time Tracking: Smart meters report live power data
  • On-Chain Records: Chainlink/API3 log clean power use on blockchain
  • Public Green Registry: View verified centers, energy mix, and status
  • Privacy-Ready: ZK-proof plans for future sensitive data protection
  • Optional Auditors: Third parties can manually verify and stake tokens

Verification Services We Integrate:

  • ElectricityMap – Grid carbon intensity data
  • WattTime – Real-time carbon tracking
  • Chainlink/API3 – Data transport to blockchain
  • Toucan/Carbonmark – Verified offsets

Audit Cost Breakdown

Bootstrap Phase (Stage 0–1)

Costs covered via treasury, HyperHack prizes, and public goods grants to ease early onboarding

Growth Phase (Stage 2+)

  • Self-Verified (Free): Only gas fees for Chainlink feeds
  • Oracle-Verified (~$1–5/week): Per node
  • Third-Party Audit ($25–100/month): Optional premium transparency
  • Offset by Token Economy: Verified providers earn more $SYNC + visibility

HyperHack Track

:white_check_mark: Track 1 – AI x Web3
Focused on building carbon-aware AI infrastructure using smart contracts, decentralized identity, and incentive-driven green compute.

How does CarbonSync plan to ensure the long-term economic sustainability of $SYNC rewards without inflating the token or reducing its value as adoption scales?

Hello @SahilpRana , What does “green identity” actually look like on-chain? Can end-users verify it in a transparent way?

The Smart Region Suggestion tool sounds unique . how does it gather and calculate the “best region” to deploy in?

CarbonSync keeps $SYNC valuable by making sure it’s actually used for real stuff, not just handed out like points. As more people post compute jobs, offset their AI usage, or find eco-friendly data centers, $SYNC is what powers those actions. They don’t just keep printing more tokens—instead, they limit the supply, reward helpful contributions, and even burn some tokens to avoid inflation. So as the platform grows, $SYNC stays useful and doesn’t lose value. Basically, it rewards people for doing good, green things—not just for being there.

Hello sir,
A “green identity” on-chain means every verified data center or provider has a public, tamper-proof record showing their sustainability credentials—like renewable energy usage, carbon offset status, and audit results. It’s not just a badge; it’s backed by real data, uploaded and timestamped on-chain. So yeah, any user can transparently check if a provider is actually walking the talk—no greenwashing, just proof.

Now, about the Smart Region Suggestion tool—it’s like a smart assistant that helps you pick the best place to run your AI jobs, based on climate data. We’re training a model that looks at key environmental factors like wind speed, air pressure, temperature, and solar radiation (ASSD). These things help us understand how much renewable energy a region can produce—and how much energy will be needed to keep data centers cool. Since cooling is one of the biggest power drains, outside temperature really matters. In short, the tool predicts where clean energy is most available and cooling costs are lowest, so your AI can run in the most climate-friendly way possible.

The goal isn’t just to suggest a region—it’s to empower builders to make smarter, greener choices without extra effort. By blending weather data, sustainability signals, and compute insights, we make sure your workloads land where they’ll have the lightest footprint and the biggest impact. It’s clean compute with climate intelligence built in.
