Why this category exists
The Leadership Decision Registry (LDR) is the accountability layer for decisions that do not meet the Meaningful Vote Standard - decisions where the outcome is not genuinely contested, and a community vote would be a formality rather than genuine input.
Every decision published here is documented with mandatory reasoning. The community can read it, question it, and formally challenge it. This category exists because reduced voting frequency is only legitimate when paired with a transparent, structured public record.
How this is different from other categories
Governance proposals include decisions that go to a Snapshot vote - decisions where community input changes the outcome. The LDR contains decisions made by leadership under delegated authority. These are complementary, not competing: Governance proposals are where the community decides; the LDR is where leadership is held accountable for everything else.
Infrastructure proposals contain technical submissions from external parties. The LDR contains internal leadership decisions across all categories: infrastructure, partnerships, operations, and administration.
What every topic in this category must contain
Every LDR entry follows this mandatory format — no exceptions:
- Context: Why is this decision being made now?
- Impact: What is the specific trade-off or consequence?
- Alternative considered: What was the other option, and why was it not taken?
Additionally: decision type, date, forum link for background discussion if applicable, and the names of the approving leadership members.
Community challenge process
Any community member may formally challenge an LDR decision within 7 days of publication by replying to the topic with a challenge post. The governance team must respond within 7 days by either initiating a Snapshot vote or publishing explicit reasoning for why the decision does not qualify for escalation. If no response is published within 7 days, the decision is automatically escalated to a community vote.
Do we need this category?
Yes. No existing category serves this function. Governance proposals require a Snapshot vote. General is unstructured. Announcements is one-directional. The LDR requires a dedicated space because its entries follow a specific format, carry a specific challenge mechanism, and need to be findable as a permanent governance record independent of other content.
