# What’s Been Happening Lately: x402, GMPayer, LazAI & the Future of AI Payments

Over the past few days a lot has happened across the LazAI / Metis / ZKM / GOAT ecosystem, and I wanted to put everything in one place for anyone who’s trying to catch up. This shift is bigger than a single tool or token it’s the early foundation of a real AI-to-AI economy.

**x402 Goes Live**

HTTP 402 (“Payment Required”) has finally been activated as a crypto micro-payment standard.

This lets AI agents pay inside a web request no accounts, no APIs, no humans.

**GMPayer Launch**

LazAI + Metis + ZKM + GOAT shipped GMPayer, the first working x402 payment hub.

Agents can now send $xMETIS or $xGOATED autonomously across chains.

The live Proof-of-Concept:

✅ Pay $1

✅ Mint 5,000 $BANG

✅ All done through an on-chain x402 call.

**Why it matters**

This is the beginning of:

- AI-to-AI payments

- Per-call billing for data, compute, and models

- Cross-chain value flow between agents

- Verifiable payments thanks to ZKM

- A BTC + L2 payment lane through GOAT & Metis

**What’s next**

Phase 2: AI spending limits + policy guardrails

Phase 3: AI Business Network (DAT-powered revenue splits)

Phase 4: A universal, cross-chain AI value exchange layer
